When the HIV virus first discovered in the early 80s, so many people lost their lives but that is no longer the case in Uganda and on a serious note, the battle against HIV is not yet won
Nawanyaga Gloria is taking the next step with a young positives music band and it looks like 2020 HIV will be no more but when you speak the trends in Uganda, you will realize that there are negative stigma, discrimination and incorrect information about people living with HIV
In amidst of community HIV stigma and discrimination in Uganda, Nawanyaga Gloria has started a young positives music band to encourage people to continue working together to help those young people living with HIV to obtain the health services and live a healthier life in the communities
Gloria is a human rights activist and in her early age, she has composed songs like Fight HIV, Rise Up, My story all about the battle against HIV by going to schools, doing community dialogues national and international spreading a message of prevention and hope
Last week, She posted on her social media platform talking about the newly launched young positives music band that one of the objectives of the band is to increase awareness about HIV/AIDs, Reproductive health issues, sexuality, self-awareness and influence policies as well as improving on the Livelihoods of Young People Living with HIV through edutainment
This is the best venture for her to give highlights in stopping the HIV stigma and be the voice of people living with HIV, as well as community families and friends. With this musical band in place, we shall see more people share their stories and encourage others to work together to stop HIV
Gloria Nawanyaga is a unique talented activist and her efforts on HIV sensitization through music will save so many young people including the elders. She isn’t alone in speaking publicly about personal experiences to end the stigma surrounding the ongoing epidemic.
